Ismail Jeilani

Ismail Jeilani

Founder

Ismail is an entrepreneur and an educational instructor. He spent 6 years teaching and helped develop a syllabus that is now used internationally. He has gained business experience through international projects that include the USA, France, Egypt and India after completing a leadership programme at the University of Oxford, and founded Satifs. Ismail remains a keen student of the Arabic language, has recently graduated with a degree in Political Economy from King’s College London and is now set to join Google as an Associate Account Strategist.
Usman Haroon

Usman Haroon

Design Lead & Non-Executive Director

Usman is a medical student at King’s College London (KCL). He founded uhDesign and quickly amassed an advertising design portfolio with an impressive range of clients, including student societies and national conferences. Usman has held a senior role in coordinating weekend Islamic Studies classes for adults, and holds management positions in a number of student-led organisations. He has recently taken up photography in his spare time.
Mujavid Bukhari

Mujavid Bukhari

Technical Lead

Mujavid is a software engineer and designer. He is committed to educational development through technology, and has held various technical positions to do so. At Codecademy, he deconstructed courses for various programming languages that are now used to teach over 100,000 students. He is also focussed on high impact projects at Satifs, where his role as technical lead has been instrumental in establishing an interest-free loans company.
Tahmina Ahmed

Tahmina Ahmed

Managing Editor

Tahmina currently studies English Language and Linguistics at Queen Mary University. Inspired by the limitless ability of writing, to motivate and express, she hopes to pursue a career in Journalism. She currently teaches English and has written articles for her College magazine and University newspaper. In one week, she led a charity campaign from two campuses, raising over £35k for orphans and needy children, and has raised funds for Al Buruj Press and The Dawah Project.  Tahmina also helped to exhibit the beauty of Arabic Calligraphy on campus by organising QM Linguistics Society’s first ever Cake & Calligraphy stall.
Annem Shah

Annem Shah

Social Media Manager

Annem is studying Information Management for Business at University College London and is in her second year. She enjoys coding and is very interested in web development, she hopes to carve a career in Investment Banking. More recently, Annem has taken up the roles of sister’s media representative for UCLU ISoc and media lead for UCLU Friends of Palestine. When she’s not glued to her laptop, Annem enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Shaun Waldie

Shaun Waldie

Photographer

Shaun currently studies English Literature at University College London, and spends most of his time ignoring his degree to do photography and film making. He’s covered numerous lectures and seminars, as well as studio, advertising and product shoots, and is also a keen cinematographer. He runs competitions and tutorials for the film and photo societies at UCL to help people improve their own skills. Shaun aims to give Satifs a professional look in all its photos and videos, to match the ambition of the whole team.

Sara currently studies BSc Psychology at UCL. She spends a lot of her time conducting and assisting research on the clinical population. Sara likes to volunteer her time helping out those in need, and spends her summers in the classroom with special needs children. In her spare time, she enjoys blogging and discovering new places of bliss. She aims to become a clinical psychologist in the future with the hope of setting up her own mental health clinic in the Middle East.

Harun Asif

Harun Asif

Strategy Adviser

Harun is currently studying Theoretical Physics at King’s College London. He has interned twice at Google and has developed a deeper insight into online advertising and marketing. Having completed a formal qualification in Google AdWords and being an accredited partner, Harun brings expertise around tailoring online strategies to grow SMBs. Harun has also undertaken a placement at Shell’s M&A and Commercial Finance department thus bringing a holistic background of finance, business and marketing to Satifs.
Akhtar Mohammed

Akhtar Mohammed

Business Adviser

Akhtar graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2011 with a B.A. majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. Upon graduation he completed the CIMA Diploma in Islamic Finance whilst in Singapore and continued his research in Islamic Finance, Banking, Trade and Economics. He also came first in a Social Entrepreneurship competition and is a Managing Partner for a Graffiti Fine Artist in Singapore. He recently completed an LLB Law Degree at SOAS.
Omar Khan

Omar Khan

Head of Communications

Omar is the current Ethics, Environment and Operations Officer at University College London Union. Within his remit, Omar is the lead officer in the organisation’s strategic plan, commercial policy and financial management. In addition, he was a member of a working group that help merge UCL and The IOE and sat on a project board with London Legacy Development Corporation developing 10 acres of real estate after successfully winning a bid on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. He is set to join the assurance team at PwC where he will continue his career in financial services. Concurrently at PwC, he will be studying towards the associate Chartered accountant award (ACA). Omar is also a graduate in M.Eng Mechanical Engineering from University College London.
Ustadh Amjad Sheikh

Ustadh Amjad Sheikh

Scholarly Adviser

Amjad studied the Islamic Sciences Programme at Ebrahim College for six years. He then completed his studies in Hadith at The Institute of Islamic Education, Dewsbury,  receiving certifications for the 6 major hadith texts and more. He is also qualified in the ten modes of recitation. Amjad is currently a lecturer in Arabic, Phonetics and The Prophetic Sciences at Ebrahim College and is part of the senior management team at Safar Academy.
